A 22-year-old man sustained a traumatic right Achilles tendon disruption with surrounding soft tissue loss. The Achilles tendon was repaired primarily (see Achilles tendon repair). The patient was then taken to the operating room for a free scapular fasciocutaneous flap.

A strong Doppler pulse was obtained over the posterior tibial artery, the chosen donor vessel.
