Appendectomy (Video): 1
A 20-year-old man came in with signs and symptoms of appendicitis. He was taken to the operating room for open appendectomy. The McBurney incision is marked. It crosses a point 1/3 of the way from the anterior superior iliac spine spine to the umbilicus, and lies 1/3 above and 2/3 below that line (see appendectomy .)
