Micro-clamp applicators have a longitudinal groove for opening multiple clamps at once, and a transverse groove at the tip for single clamps. The index finger is held between the blades for precise control.
Microsurgical clamps come as single Kleinert-type or double Louisville/Ackland type. The latter may or may not have an attached ring for securing suture ends under tension while working. Those without rings are used when retraction is provided by an assistant.
