The catheter was passed into the papilla, and a flexible wire was threaded past the stone. The catheter was advanced over the wire, and a cholangiogram was performed. The four stones were visualized in the duct.

The sphincterotome catheter was introduced, and sphincterotomy was performed on the superolateral side of the papilla, up to the junction of papilla with duodenal wall. A balloon catheter was passed, and the duct was cleared of stones with two passes. Completion cholangiogram showed no residual stones.
