The patient was offered the option of palliative forequarter amputation with the goal of reducing the tumor burden and slowing the destructive expansion of the tumor. The major immediate concern was spinal cord impingment. The patient elected to proceed with surgery. The patient was placed in the right lateral decubitus position and the proposed incisions marked. Note the circled subcutaneous nodule.
