Redo Total Hip Arthroplasty for Mechanical Failure: 1
A D V E R T I S E M E N T
A 44-year-old woman underwent a left total hip arthroplasty (see total hip replacement ) in 1991 because of avascular necrosis of the femoral head occurring during pregnancy four years earlier. She felt a snap in the left hip, and developed instability. The X-ray shows eccentricity of the prosthetic femoral head, and bone resorption in the ilium around the screws.
