Periosteum was reflected anteriorly with the scalp flap, and the bulk of the temporalis muscle was elevated from the cranium using cautery. The muscle was held in place with sutures and rubber bands. The pterion (the junction of frontal, sphenoid, parietal and temporal bones) was exposed.

A standard pterional craniotomy was made using three burr holes. Mannatol and furosamide were administered.

from the bone bluntly through the burr holes.
