A 22-year-old man sustained a road rash degloving injury to the dorsum of his left hand in a motor vehicle accident. The hand is shown after initial reconstruction. The volar pads were sensate, but minimally protective. The initial incisions for random pedicle flap grafting have been made.

The first flap is shown mobilized and attached to the ulnar edge of the finger incision. The free edge of the abdominal skin incision had first been attached to the radial edge of the skin incision.
