Ultrasound showed a 9 cm hyperechoic mass above the left kidney.

CT scan showed a 9 x 8 cm, non-enhancing, well-circumscribed mass with predominantly fatty characteristics. Differential diagnosis included adrenal adenoma, myelolipoma, adrenal cortical carcinoma, retroperitoneal lipoma, renal cell carcinoma, sarcoma, pheochromocytoma, angiomyolipoma, germ cell tumor, metastatic lesion, and lymphoma.

MRI scan showed a 13 x 12 x 15 cm left adrenal mass with increased T1 signal, T1 out-of-phase fat suppression and slightly increased T2 signal which decreased on fat saturation. The margin of the left kidney was well defined.
