A suprapubic catheter was placed at the conclusion of the procedure using open technique. The bladder was filled via the urethral catheter, midline fascia was opened, the anterior bladder wall was identified through the space of Retzius, purse string suture was placed and the catheter was inserted.

Midline fascia was closed around the catheter.
