The bulldog clamp was flashed and there was free flow of bile. The gallbladder was left in situ in the event that it might be needed for further bypass in the future. A small opening in the jejunal wall was made opposite the bile duct. The back wall of the biliary anastomosis was sewn with interrupted absorbable 4-0 monofilament suture.

The completed biliary anastomosis is shown. An outer row of horizontal mattress sutures was placed to buttress the anastomosis.
