The closure was performed using 0 Vicryl suture in an interrupted fashion, approximating and covering the entire prosthesis with muscle. The anterior compartment muscles were sutured laterally to the soleus.
Black – Lateral Gastrocnemius.
Yellow – Medial Gastrocnemius.
White – Soleus.
Grey – Tibialis Anterior.

After the closure was completed, the area was irrigated with Betadine and antibiotic solutions. The skin was closed with 3-0 Vicryl, followed by 3-0 PDO barbed suture, and then dressed with Prineo Dermabond.

Right lower leg AP/lateral x-ray 26 months status post endoprosthesis and gastrocnemius flap procedure showing right tibial replacement hardware (endoprosthesis) without residual or recurrent mass. The repiphysis prosthetic device allows for an external non invasive magnetic expansion process to compensate for growth.
