The liver was attached to the left side of the diaphragm by a variation known as the appendix fibrosa hepatica. In order to excise the exposed wall of the cyst without injuring the liver, the fibrous band was divided. The wall of the cyst was excised with good hemostasis and a tongue of momentum was placed in the remaining defect.
