A 52-year-old woman experienced increasing orthopnea. She was known to have a Bochdalek’s hernia from age 13 (see congenital diaphragmatic hernia repair and diaphramatic development and CDH) and remained relatively asymptomatic in terms of bowel and pulmonary function to the present illness.
She also had chronic pulmonary emboli 5 years prior to the present illness and was diagnosed with azygous continuation of the inferior vena cava (see azygous continuation of IVC.) She underwent vena cava filter placement and pulmonary embolectomy at that time.
