The specimen was bisected in the coronal plane from the tip of the pancreas toward the staple line.

The bisected specimen had a rim of normal pancreas between the gross lesion and the staple line. The resection was considered adequate and the procedure completed. A post-resection specimen of splenic vein blood was obtained.

The specimen is shown. The staple line is on the sides between the two halves. The final routine histology showed typical neuroendocrine pathology with clear margins. Special processing is ongoing.
