A 61-year-old woman was found to have a mediastinal mass on chest X-ray. She had no history of smoking or asbestos exposure, and no symptoms of myasthenia gravis. During the course of the work-up she had a left breast mass which core needle biopsy showed to be invasive ductal carcinoma. The differential diagnosis included thymoma, teratoma, lymphoma and metastatic breast cancer.
