The femoral vein is the medial-most structure of the neurovascular bundle. The major lymphatic drainage from the leg lies around and medial to the vein within the femoral canal.

The inguinal ligament is comprised of the lowest fibers of the external oblique aponeurosis. The medial fibers reflect back onto the pectineal ligament forming the lacunar ligament.
