The specimen is shown. It is best to remove the cyst intact so all the secretory lining is excised to prevent recurrence. If the cyst is ruptured during dissection, all parts of the wall must be removed.

Subcuticular sutures were placed in this case. Interrupted sutures of 2 or 3-0 nylon are also a good choice in the scalp, especially if, as is more common, the skin is thicker than in this case. Full thickness bites help with hemostasis in the vascular scalp. The tails are left long for ease of identification and removal amidst the hair.
